Consumer Protection Law is the consumer debt defense practice of Itkin Law, P.C., a California professional law corporation. Because we are a law firm, what you share with us is protected by rules stricter than ordinary privacy policies: the attorney duty of confidentiality (California Business and Professions Code Section 6068(e) and Rule of Professional Conduct 1.6).
Effective date: September 10, 2026
Who we are
Consumer Protection Law is the consumer debt defense practice of Itkin Law, P.C., a California professional law corporation. All legal services are provided by Itkin Law, P.C., David Itkin, Attorney at Law (State Bar of California No. 368565).
This policy covers https://consumerprotectionlaw.com, including its Spanish pages at /es/, and information sent through its forms. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Itkin Law, P.C. Our site is a static website hosted by Netlify. It has no user accounts and does not accept payments.
What we collect
Notice at collection: We collect the categories below to respond to inquiries, assess whether we can help, operate the website, and meet legal duties. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Our retention practices appear below. Please review this notice before sending a form.
Our website collects information only through Netlify Forms, Google Analytics 4, and technical logs kept by Netlify.
Contact and free case review forms. The form fields are:
- Name.
- Phone number.
- Email address.
- Description of your debt situation.
- Preferred language.
We receive this information directly from you. These fields include contact details and information about your legal inquiry. Your description may include personal or financial facts, depending on what you choose to write. Please keep it brief. Do not include Social Security numbers, full account numbers, passwords, or other sensitive details in a website form.
Google Analytics 4. Analytics collects online activity and device information. This includes cookie identifiers, pages viewed, visit times, session activity, referring pages or sources, browser and device type, operating system, language settings, and general location. The information comes from your browser and activity on our site. We use it for aggregate traffic statistics, not advertising.
Google Analytics 4 does not log or store individual IP addresses. Google may use an IP address briefly to estimate general location before discarding it. This does not make all analytics data anonymous. We do not send your name, phone number, email address, or form description to Google Analytics.
Netlify technical logs. Our host keeps technical records of requests to the site. These may include IP addresses, request dates and times, requested page paths, referring pages, browser or device information, and response or error codes. The fields available depend on Netlify’s logging practices. These logs support website delivery, security, and troubleshooting.
How we use it
We use collected information to:
- Respond to your inquiry in your preferred language when possible.
- Review your situation and decide whether the firm may be able to help.
- Check for conflicts of interest before accepting a matter.
- Understand overall traffic and improve the site.
- Keep the website working and address errors, abuse, or security issues.
- Maintain required records and meet legal and professional duties.
We never use your information to sell or rent it to data brokers, or to share it with them. Our forms are attorney intake tools. We do not sell leads. We do not use inquiry details for advertising profiles.
Legal-specific confidentiality
We treat information sent through our forms as confidential to the extent the law allows. Duties to protect information from a person seeking legal help may apply even if we do not take the case. Nothing in this policy limits those duties.
Submitting a form does not create an attorney-client relationship. It does not mean we have accepted your matter, agreed to act for you, or agreed to track a deadline. Do not rely on a form submission to protect a filing date or other legal deadline.
Please do not send details you consider privileged until a written engagement agreement is in place. A website form is not a guaranteed secure channel. Whether a communication is protected by attorney-client privilege depends on the facts and the law. A form submission alone does not establish that protection.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 through gtag.js. Its cookies are _ga, which distinguishes visitors, and _ga_0SHD64Z8RP, which keeps session state. Each has a two-year lifetime, subject to browser limits and renewal on later visits.
We do not use advertising cookies, remarketing, Google Signals, or tracking across other sites. Netlify may use strictly necessary items for security or load balancing if needed. For cookie details and browser controls, read our Cookie Policy. You can also use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Our website does not currently respond to browser Do Not Track signals. Google receives analytics information when its code runs, unless it is blocked. We do not authorize it to collect information through this site for cross-site advertising. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, regardless of browser signals.
Phone and text consent
When you submit your phone number, you consent to calls or texts from the firm about your inquiry, as stated beside the phone field. This is permission to follow up on your request, not permission to sell your number or send unrelated marketing.
You can stop texts at any time by replying STOP. You can also ask us by phone or email to stop calls or texts. We will honor your request as required by law. Message frequency varies with your inquiry. Your carrier’s message and data rates may apply. Consent to texts is not a condition of retaining the firm. You may contact us by email instead.
Who we share with
We limit routine website disclosures to service providers that help operate the site:
- Netlify: Hosts the website, processes form submissions, and maintains technical logs.
- Google Analytics: Processes analytics information to provide website traffic reports. It does not receive your form answers from us.
These providers receive information needed for their services. Their handling of it is governed by applicable service and data-protection terms, which limit use to providing and supporting those services. We do not authorize them to sell inquiry information or use it for their own advertising. Providers may use supporting vendors under their service terms.
We may disclose information when required by law or a valid court order. We will consider our confidentiality duties and any applicable privilege before doing so. This policy does not authorize disclosure that our professional duties forbid.
We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not share it with data brokers or for cross-context behavioral advertising. That kind of advertising uses activity across different businesses’ websites or services to target ads.
Data retention
We keep inquiry information only as long as reasonably needed for its purpose, conflicts checking, and legal-records obligations. We consider whether we accepted the matter, applicable record rules, potential claims, and any duty to preserve records. This means some inquiry records may remain after we decline a matter or finish responding.
We do not use one fixed retention period for every inquiry. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete it or make it no longer identify you. Backup deletion may occur on the backup system’s normal schedule.
Analytics data and host logs are retained under the relevant service settings and provider schedules. A cookie’s lifetime is not the same as the retention period for data already collected. If you become a client, additional rules may apply to your client file.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards suited to the information we handle. We limit access based on work needs and use service providers to support secure website operation. Still, no website, transmission method, or storage system is 100% secure. Please avoid sending highly sensitive information through a website form.
California privacy rights
We do not expect the firm to meet the business thresholds for the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act. Even so, we follow its privacy principles and offer California residents the requests below as a courtesy. This policy does not limit any rights that apply by law.
- Know and access: Ask what personal information we hold about you, its sources, why we use it, and who receives it. You may request a copy.
- Delete: Ask us to delete your personal information.
- Correct: Ask us to fix inaccurate personal information.
- Non-discrimination: We will not treat you unfairly for making a privacy request.
To make a request, email info@consumerprotectionlaw.com or call (949) 418-2113. No account is required. Tell us what you are requesting and how to reach you. Please do not include sensitive identity documents with your first message.
We may verify your identity by matching information you provide with our records. We request only what is reasonably needed. An authorized agent may make a request for you, but we may need proof of permission and identity verification.
We aim to respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we will explain why. We may retain information needed for conflicts checks, confidentiality duties, legal records, security, or legal claims. We may also be unable to identify browser data as yours. If we cannot fulfill a request, we will explain the reason to the extent allowed by law.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 sent us information, please contact us so we can investigate and address it.
Visitors outside the United States
This site is intended for people seeking legal help in California. Information may be processed in the United States and other places where our providers operate. Privacy laws there may differ from those where you live. This notice does not waive any rights you have under applicable law.
Machine translation note
The Spanish version is a machine-assisted translation provided for convenience. It may contain errors. If the versions differ, the English version controls to the extent the law allows. Contact us if anything is unclear.
Changes
We may update this policy as our practices or legal duties change. We will post updates on this page with a new effective date. If the law requires extra notice of a change, we will provide it.
